CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Criminal Justice: Learning Team Leadership Exercise- Research Paper

The key lessons from the Boston Marathon incident include coordination, leadership, communication, and team collaboration. It is said that coordination would have made the detection of bombs before the Marathon started much easier, and the protection of Marathon participants would have been ensured to the maximum level. However, since nothing of similar severity had been identified before this date, Marathon management might not have a clue that it could have happened.

Still, the heavy responsibility for the lives of the citizens lies on the Marathon management and all the departments involved in their support. It takes to another factor which is communication and team collaboration. Although the emergency response teams were active enough to save lives and provide care to injured people, the leadership still needs to be resilient enough to detect any possible gaps in security.

Although the report provides a comprehensive outline of the minor details and innocent timeline that took place that day, it should have emphasized team collaboration, which would be in the form of each team member providing their services to the Marathon event. Every member should have been included in a collaboration department at large that could have included any gaps in the conflicting information from each side. Every dimension of the information could have been included to shun any misleading or erroneous information.

It was a difficult time when the emergency response team had to take care of not only the injured ones, but make arrangements in the hospitals, arrange blood for them, and even control social media and news reporting teams simultaneously. It was a heroic achievement with the unity seen after the incident to alleviate the after-effects. A team spirit has been stated throughout the report that is needed each time for dealing with such tragedies. However, it was a lesson learned that management still needs to be fortified beforehand to prevent such tragedies from happening in the first place.
